Valais Tourism

An attractive and user-friendly website is the best possible way for the tourism canton of Valais to make itself known. When the Valais Tourism website was updated, we therefore provided support in the form of a usability test. The aim was to find out how well the website met user expectations. Our findings provided valuable insight as to how the layout, functionality and the logical navigation and content structure could best be configured. Link to Valais Tourism website

Moodle

In response to suggestions made by lecturers and students, we developed an introduction tutorial for the Moodle learning platform. The tutorial allows users to learn how the platform works at home or at work. The tutorial is aimed at lecturers and users who have had little or no experience in creating or editing Moodle courses. Different prototypes were tested on different user groups and findings were incorporated into the course development. Link to Moodle Tutorial

Kassensturz – consumer protection programme

The IFeL Usability Lab carried out research for the television programme ‘Kassensturz’. The objective was to compare the e-readers that were available on the Swiss market at the time. The devices were compared with regard to their user-friendliness, readability and value for money.‐ In the IFeL Usability Lab, usability and readability were tested on the basis of verbal and written questionnaires and test-subject eye-tracking while the devices were being used. The technical test was performed and evaluated by brain-tec AG. The results were combined with our usability‐findings to produce an overall rating. The findings were presented on the Kassensturz programme on 8 September 2009. Link to the programme
